The Promotion rank is displayed by the background and border color. In order to increase the rank, Heroes and Pets need to equip all 6 required items after reaching the level requirement for them.
The basic items for Heroes can be obtained in the Campaign or by buying them from the Merchant but many higher-ranked items can only be crafted by combining other items or fragments. The items for Pets can be obtained in Adventures. All items can also be bought from Merchants in Special Events.
Important: Once an item is equipped, it can't be taken off.
Promoting itself is:
- Free
- Increases the Promotion rank and unlocks the next 6 items
- Increases all primary Stats by 2 *
Reaching a certain Promotion rank unlocks Skills and Glyphs. Additionally, Wendy sends you a Promotion Reward of 10 Emeralds each time a Hero is promoted.
* The mobile platform grants several Heroes bonus attributes for specific promotional levels, e.g. Alvanor gains 26 Intelligence, Agility, and Strength if promoted to Orange +3 and Orange +4 instead of the default +2.

The following ranks are available for Heroes:
- White
- Green, Green +1
- Blue, Blue +1, Blue +2
- Violet, Violet +1, Violet +2, Violet +3
- Orange, Orange +1, Orange +2, Orange +3, Orange +4
- Red, Red +1, Red +2
Pets have the same ranks up to Violet +3.
Titans have no visible ranks, they always have a silver background and border, Supertitans have a more fancy border.
Underranking[]
Players can keep Heroes purposely on a lower rank to keep their Stats low to gain Energy faster by taking more Damage proportional to their Health. For example Jorgen, his only job is to cast his first skill, therefore he needs to gain faster Energy than his opponents.
