Clash of Worlds (CoW) is a competitive game mode of cross-server battles for silver-and-gold-leagued guilds only. Unlike Guild War, all 30 guild members are eligible to participate. It was introduced to the game during Keros' special event called The Call of Darkness on September 30, 2022, and its battles started on October 3, 2022.[1]

On September 19, 2024, Nexters announced the 8th CoW Season would be the last of its kind and that the Area of Conquest would be remodeled and turned into the new primary cross-server game mode. [2] A few days later, Nexters rolled back and said they would continue the game mode after (negative) feedback from the community. [3]

Rules[]

To participate in defense or attack, each player can set up to three Hero teams and two Titan teams. The Clash of Worlds has seasons, each lasting a little less than three months. Since Season 2, each battle in this game mode lasts for three days with a total of two cross-server battles per week. They begin on Mondays and Thursdays, with Sundays off. In Season 1, the battles used to last for two days, starting Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with Sundays off. [4]

By participating in battles, guilds will climb the Clash of Worlds' ranking to see which guild is the most powerful across all servers this season. A higher guild ranking means stronger opponents and more valuable rewards.

When a guild unlocks the Clash of Worlds, it will receive an initial ranking based on the total power of the 15 strongest heroes and 10 strongest titans of each guild member, so it can participate right away rather than wait for the season to end.

The guild ranking will reset at the season's start. The ranking reached in the previous season affects the starting ranking of the new season. The higher the guild's ranking for the previous season, the higher its starting position in the new season.[5]

Note: Between Seasons 1 and 2 the number of battles per week was reduced (from 3 to 2 per guild) while the ranking system was also updated allowing for much higher ranking points (per battle) and thus higher point totals by end of season. However, the increasing number of top guilds has lead to more draws betweens those top guilds and a lower points total needed for first place. At the same time, more competition has increased the amount of points needed to reach the Top-50 (see last column) and the gap between #1 and #50 has become much smaller over the seasons as well.

Fortifications[]

In total, 55 Hero teams and 40 Titan teams will need to be placed to defend all the fortifications.[6] [7]

Each of the 30 guild members has a total of five attack attempts (three for heroes, two for titans). In summary, the attacking guild has more attack attempts (150) compared to the total number of teams in defense (95) because some fortifications have buffs only for those teams in defense. The attackers need to try hard to break through those teams with buffs to capture a fortification, so additional attack attempts are very helpful.

The following table is based on the (upcoming) Season 4.

Progression on the Map[]

As in Guild War, not all fortifications are eligible for the attack right away and at first, you can only attack the Mage Academy, Barracks, Lighthouse, and the Bridge.

In order to pass to the Citadel, attackers have to capture 4 fortifications (instead of only 2 in Guild War) including 2 Bridges (instead of 1) – one for Titan and one for Hero teams. After the first (Titan) Bridge, attackers need to take 1 of the 3 fortifications in the center – either Bastion of Fire, Gates of Nature, or Bastion of Ice; just like in Guild War. After that, the second Hero Bridge awaits. Lastly, one of the Temples right in front of the Citadel needs to be captured – either the Moon or Sun Temple – before gaining access to the Citadel. None of the Bridges has defense buffs, however, both Bastions, Gates, and both Temples do have buffs for the defending teams (see table above).

Rewards[]

As for rewards in the game mode,[6] players will receive new Clash of Worlds' trophies, which they will then be able to exchange for goods in the Clash of Worlds Shop. Though there will be different leagues in the game mode, trophies will be the same for everyone.

Players will get trophies based on the results of each battle held, for reaching a new higher league, and for their guild’s rankings at the end of the season.

Shop[]

Earned Clash of Worlds Trophies can be spend at the Clash of Worlds Shop or upgrade the Light and Dark Elemental Spirits (Totems).

Goods of the Clash of Worlds Shop will consist of Iris and Amira Soul Stones, exclusive frames, and avatars. The store will also be supplemented with other unique items.
