There are three types of damage in Hero Wars: Physical, Magical, and Pure Damage.
Colors[]
Each one can be differentiated by color in the skill description and in battle

- Every non-damage effect in the skill description is also marked Green
- Green in Battle is healing
- Pet paws before numbers indicate that skills from Pets did cause or affect them
Stun[]
If damage taken is higher or equal to 20% of health then the victim is stunned for a short period of time.
Defense[]
Some damage can be mitigated with other Stats:
- Armor protects against Physical attacks
- Magic Defense protects against Magic attacks
There is no protection against Pure damage!
Basic attack[]
By default all Heroes do physical damage with their basic attacks based on their physical attack stat, except:
- Augustus's green skill grants a basic magic attack based on the skill level and his magic attack
- Celeste's violet skill grants a basic magic attack based on the skill level and her magic attack
- Cornelius basic physical attacks are based on his magic attack
- All of Iris's skills deal physical and pure damage but are based on her magic attack
- Satori's white skill grants a basic magic attack (still) based on his physical attack
